Linking YouTube Channel to Revelator's MCN

Benefits of linking your YouTube channel with Revelator's MCN

All videos uploaded to the channel will benefit from Content ID: the ability to claim videos on other channels which use any audio or video portion of your channel's content — even if the audio or video was not distributed to Content ID through your Revelator dashboard. For example, if your linked channel uploads a video of an acoustic version of a song that you have not distributed to Content ID through the normal distribution process, that channel video can still claim other channels that repost your video or include the acoustic version in their content.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Your channel must meet YouTube's YPP acceptance criteria, be enrolled in YPP, and currently monetizing with a minimum monthly revenue of:
    • $500 USD for an artist channel (a single artist's content)
    • $5,000 USD for a label or mixed channel (more than one artist's content)

  2. You must abide by YouTube's monetization guidelines — read the full "What we check when we review your channel" section, paying particular attention to the "Follow our program policies" section regarding inauthentic and repetitive content.

  3. Your channel must have a minimum of 3 original videos.

  4. At least 80% of the content must be music related.

  5. At least 90% of the content must be original and fully owned by you. You cannot simply re-upload content that already exists on YouTube (unless you fully own that content).

  6. The channel must mainly consist of music from artists that you distribute to other DSPs through your Revelator account (a few occasional exceptions may be acceptable). Revelator does not accept channels that primarily or significantly feature other artists' music.

  7. Your channel must be active and perform at least 2 of the following actions per month:
    • Upload an original video and make it public
    • Perform a live stream
    • Post a reel
    • Create a playlist
    • Comment on your own channel (as your Channel)
    • Comment on another channel (as your Channel)
    • Create a community post

Conditions for maintaining your channel in Revelator's MCN

1. Copyright strike policy

Important Revelator has a very strict policy around copyright strikes. Please read the following carefully to avoid having your channel(s) unlinked.

Do not upload content that will result in your channel receiving a strike. Read our article on how to avoid YouTube copyright strikes. As a channel manager, it is your responsibility to ensure that a claim on one of your videos does not result in a strike. If someone is claiming one of your videos, you must do one of the following:

  • If you own the full rights to the recording, issue a DMCA notice against the claiming asset on YouTube's DMCA page.
  • If you do not own the full rights to the recording, accept the third party's claim or take down your video so that no strike is applied.
  • If the issue is more complex, contact our support team immediately. Note that YouTube only gives you 7 days after your appeal is rejected by the third party to take down the video — after that, a strike is applied.

If you receive 1 valid strike ("valid" means the claim is legitimate and you cannot file a Counter Notice):

  • Your channel will be unlinked from Revelator's MCN.
  • You will be blocked from linking any new channels for 60 days.

If you receive more than 1 valid strike in any 90-day period on one channel or across all your channels:

  • All your channels will be unlinked from Revelator's MCN.
  • You will be blocked from linking any new channels for 90 days or permanently blocked, depending on the circumstances.

2. YouTube guidelines

You must strictly follow all YouTube monetization and community guidelines.

3. YouTube Partner Program (YPP)

Unless you have been cleared by Revelator to create a channel with no intention of applying to YPP:

  • You must apply for YPP within 3 months of your channel being linked or created.
  • Your YPP application must be successful on the first attempt. This ensures you are developing the type of channel that YouTube values.

Procedure to link your channel

  1. Ensure you have read all of the above and are ready to take responsibility for ensuring all channel managers follow the requirements. As noted above, problems with even one channel can put all of your channels at risk.
  2. Submit your request to link your channel(s) directly from your dashboard: CatalogUGC PlatformsYouTube.
  3. Once submitted, please allow a few days for Revelator to review your channel's compliance, followed by a few additional days for YouTube to review and send an invitation. The full process typically takes around 1 week.
  4. Once your channel is linked, assign it to an owner child account and add the appropriate contract. Both procedures are detailed in this article.

Fees

YouTube channels may be subject to different revenue share percentages than your standard distribution fee. Please reach out to our team for more information.
