Request a Facebook / Instagram Verification Badge

What is the Instagram/Facebook verification badge?

The Instagram/Facebook verification badge (often referred to as the blue tick) signifies that an account belongs to a highly searched, authentic, notable public figure. It's a way for Meta to help followers distinguish between official accounts and fake or unofficial ones. However, not all well-known accounts are verified, and the verification process is at Meta's discretion.

How can I apply for a verification badge?

The fastest route: Meta Verified (paid)

Meta Verified is the fastest and most reliable way to get a verification badge on Instagram and Facebook. It's a paid subscription that grants a badge after confirming your identity with a government ID — no press coverage required.

For most artists and labels, this is the route we recommend. The free (organic) application route is available, but approval is not guaranteed and is typically reserved for major public figures with significant press coverage. If you're not at that level yet, Meta Verified is likely your best option.

The free (organic) route

On your Instagram profile, tap the Menu icon (☰) in the top-right corner → SettingsAccountRequest Verification. Instagram will provide you with a form to complete. After you submit it, Instagram will review your request and notify you of their decision via a notification in your account.

For Facebook verification, visit Request a verified badge on Facebook and follow the instructions.

ImportantThe free verification route is not guaranteed. Meta approves organic applications at its sole discretion and typically only grants them to highly searched public figures with substantial, verifiable press coverage. If your artist does not meet that bar, the application is likely to be denied.

Who can apply?

Meta has strict requirements on who may apply for a verification badge:

  • The profile must represent a well-known, highly searched-for person, brand, or entity.
  • The account must be authentic (representing a real person or entity), unique (only one account per person or business can be verified), and complete (must be a public figure, have a bio, a profile photo, and be active on the target Meta service when the application is submitted).
  • The account and all involved users must follow Facebook's Terms of Use and Community Guidelines.
  • All information submitted with your request must be truthful and reflect your own professional representation. Submitting a request using sponsored articles, false information, or charging a fee for verification or similar services is strictly prohibited.
  • If your request is denied, do not resubmit unless there is new information that is likely to have a direct impact on the decision.

Recommendations

The most important factor in page verification is the existence of public media coverage on the artist — links to other social media platforms are typically not sufficient. Coverage should not be opinion articles and must be from notable media outlets. Please note that there are no rules around follower count: a high number of followers does not guarantee that your verification request will be granted.

Can Revelator apply on my behalf?

Revelator handles verification requests on behalf of its distribution clients only in specific cases and at its own discretion. If you are a Revelator distribution client and you have an artist that meets Meta's guidelines above, you can reach out to support@revelator.com with a link to the account you want to verify and a link to at least one non-sponsored, non-P.R. media article about the artist from a notable media outlet.
