When you create a track, you'll see an optional Publishing Info section asking for writer, publisher, and ISWC details. This article explains what that information is for.
Why does this matter for a track I'm distributing?
Some DSPs (for example, Spotify) use the writer and publisher information you enter to route songwriting credit and royalty data correctly. If this information is missing or incomplete, your track can still be distributed and streamed normally, but writer/publisher credits may not display correctly, and royalty routing on the composition side (separate from your recording royalties) may be affected.
What is a PRO?
A Performance Rights Organization (PRO), sometimes called a collection society, is an organization that collects royalties owed to songwriters and publishers when their compositions are performed or streamed. Examples include ASCAP and BMI in the US, SACEM in France, PRS in the UK, and equivalent societies in most other countries.
PROs are separate from Revelator and from your distribution agreement. Registering your compositions with a PRO is a decision you make independently, based on your own songwriting and publishing setup.
